Update from Nephrology and he definitely let go!

We saw Dr. Sas today at MUSC Nephrology. He was so nice and we enjoyed getting to meet him. He pretty much said that the picture with Thomas was very "muddy" and that more than anything he thinks it is just a bizarre set of test and that really the kidneys are doing their job. The fact that there has not been any bicarbonate in his blood means that he ok. The problem would come when the kidney's failed and then all of that stuff would show up in his blood. Confusing I know..Bottom line is that he thanks Thomas is fine, but is sending out a blood Ph test to just be sure. He said that the Endocrinology issues were much more of a concern at this point. We also picked up our new meter from Dr. Bowlby's office while we there and our rx. Tommy took the day of to go with us and the difference that made was unbelievable. We had to wait an hour to see Dr. Sas so Tommy was able to take the kids back out to the waiting room where there were some toys so I could wait on Dr. Sas and give him all the history that he needed. I am so thankful he was able to go with us it really made our trip much easier than the Endo trip!
West just definitely let go of the kitchen table chair for just a second before he sat down! Yay Westy!!

Fun updates!

Just a few things I wanted to write down so I don't forget them!
West is really crawling fast now, he plays very well independently but loves Thomas' room, the hall bath and Georgia's Kennel the most. He is saying "mama" and "dada". He eats everything we eat minus some meat that would be hard to chew and loves to eat! Just in the last couple of days we have seen him cruising along furniture and I "might" have seen him let go of the side of the bath tub for just a second tonight.. He is a very sweet cuddling baby, takes great naps at home and in the car on the go. Sleeps in his crib during the day but is still cuddled up right next to me all night long:) He is also starting to clap when he hears music!
Thomas loves school. He goes running in before I can even get to the door. We are thrilled with descion to put him back in the 2s as he is now a leader and the older child. He is an older class, 2 children have already turned 3:) He really loves the park, he was so sweet today asking the other children to play tag, "Will you chase me?" He has a really fun imagination and will bring me pretend cups of water or food during the day "This is for you meme!" Still not potty trained but for the FIRST TIME EVER tonight he teeteed in the potty standing up!!! I could not believe I was watching him do it..made me a little sad..Funny thing about Thomas, I can prick his finger 4xs a day no problem but when he goes to get his haircut at the same place he has been going every 4 wks for over 2 years he screams and cries every time...he has the worst haircut now bc he was flailing about so badly on Saturday... He has a tender heart and will tell me about the children who cried at school and how he told them "Don't cry, school is fun, your meme will be right back!" I never knew I could love one child like I do let alone two, thank you Lord for these precious precious boys, truly only gifts that you could give!

Park Day with Seven!

We spent some time this afternoon at the park with baby Seven and Kristen. The kids had a great time and the weather was so nice, although hotter than last week..

Update from peds endo

We got a call from Thomas' endocrinologist today. All of his test look normal. She made a point to tell me that this was just a "snap shot of Sept 2008" and that October or November could bring something new. After a slushie from Sonic this week he was 277. She has ordered him a new meter that insurance will cover and wants us to call her if he below 50 or above 300. She will continue to follow him and see him see him in 3 months at the clinic. She said that some children just go through a period where they have crazy blood sugars and that may be it, if so it should just go away. She also talked about another condition that has to do with your body not making insulin and that he may have that, most children go on to outgrow it but some do go on to develop type 1 diabetes. We check him four times a day and thankfully he does really well. Its almost like his pancreas works most of the time but fails some of the time, sometimes only under odd circumstances like the slushie and sometimes under normal dietary circumstances like his gluten free chicken nuggets?

How do you make a 3 year olds afternoon?

You buy him a $5.00 Buzz Light year costume at the second hand shop! He was so sweet he kept asking me to lift him high so he could fly to the moon:)

Afternoon at the park and baking!

Yesterday we went to the park in the afternoon. The weather has been so nice to be outside:) We had a great time and then came home and did some baking. Thomas really enjoyed helping me cut out the biscuits. We made Ham and cheese biscuit's and a black bottom cheesecake for small group. Both Gluten Free and really yummy! Today we had to take Thomas back to the Dr for another blood draw, trying to watch his bi carbon levels in his urine until we get into the nephrologist. Then we went to lunch at Chick fa la and then to the park with Caroline and Mrs. Jodie. I cant say enough how nice this fall like weather is, we LOVE it!!
